Gr. 1–4 Morning Academics

Mornings: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

We aim to prepare each camper for a smooth transition to the new school year with an engaging, theme-based curriculum in coed, grade-specific classrooms.

Each session of Morning Academics begins with a basic review of concepts from the previous grade level. Teachers differentiate instruction and reinforce common themes, standards and expectations from the prior school year to help solidify existing skill sets and knowledge bases. As camp progresses, the focus shifts to reflect a curriculum that campers can expect in the coming year, with an emphasis on math and language arts. A fully integrated Digital Literacy & Design program is available for campers in the Morning Academics program, with full access to the Unkefer Spark Studio makerspace, where students will explore, design, engineer and tinker.

The program provides a comfortable setting for making new friends and building upon existing relationships. All campers are informally assessed, and feedback is shared with families throughout the session. Campers leave the program having gained valuable experience and confidence that prepares them for a smooth transition into the next grade level.

All campers are invited to join the afternoon Young at Heart Recreation Camp, where students enjoy a variety of grade-appropriate rotations. Past rotations have included science, art, movement, filmmaking, gymnastics, yoga, West African percussion, engineering and tinkering. For those who stay, lunch will begin at 12 p.m.

Gr. 1–4 Young at Heart Recreation Camp

Afternoon Session: 12–4 p.m.
Grade Level:  Entering Grades 1–4

In coed, age-appropriate groups, campers participate in a variety of daily rotations, while enjoying theme-based dress-up days, scavenger hunts, talent shows, special guest performances, camp carnivals and more.

Campers fully utilize the school’s expansive facilities in their daily rotations by experiencing athletics, creative arts, science and technology all in one afternoon. This environment sets the foundation for each camper to be authentic while building meaningful connections with teachers, counselors and peers. Each week will end with a “Fun Friday” event that will leave campers with many wonderful memories.
