Updated Goals and Criteria Set the Course for Sacred Heart Education

The Convent & Stuart Hall community joined Network schools from around the United States and Canada to re-vision how the Goals and Criteria might better support the needs of today's students.

After a two-year re-visioning process involving all 24 Network schools in the United States and Canada, the Society of the Sacred Heart announced the launch of the 2020 Goals and Criteria on December 2, 2020. The redrafting of the Goals and Criteria that define the mission of Sacred Heart schools occurs every 15 years in response to our changing world.

In 2018, the Convent & Stuart Hall community was invited to join Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) from across the United States and Canada to examine and consider changes to the Criteria of our five Goals. Reflecting on the world today, as well as where students will be in the future, faculty, staff, students and alumni submitted feedback for consideration by a Provincial Team of RSCJ.

In a letter to Network educators, the Provincial Team announced their approval of the fourth edition of the Goals and Criteria. "We recognize in these Goals and their Criteria Sophie's charism, the spirit of the Society and our philosophy of education,” they wrote. “We believe the 2020 Goals and Criteria effectively frame the vision of Sacred Heart education that will serve our students, our faculties, our families and our communities for the next 15 years."
