Going Virtual is the Next Best Thing for Washington, D.C. Week

The annual Convent eighth grade Washington, D.C. trip had a virtual spin this year, with three guest speakers, including Senator Dianne Feinstein '51, providing a surprisingly intimate glimpse into public life.

During the middle of May when Convent eighth graders had planned to travel to Washington, D.C. with their chaperones for a weeklong curricular experience, students had an exciting opportunity to meet with Senator Dianne Feinstein '51, Congresswoman Jackie Speier and Leonard Downey, former executive editor and vice president of The Washington Post, on Zoom. While the virtual experience could not replace the real trip, the guest speakers offered personalized reflections and left ample time for questions.
