Behind the Scenes at the Musical 'Urinetown'

High school students performed their spring musical March 9-11 in Syufy Theatre. Photos capture many of the highlights, including the moments before the curtain went up on opening night.

A Convent & Stuart Hall high school cast delivered an inspiring performance of Urinetown, directed by Pamela Rickard. In an attempt to regulate water consumption in the midst of a severe drought, a city has outlawed the use of private toilets. The decision sets off tensions among the citizenry who are forced to use pay-per-use amenities or face time in a penal colony called "Urinetown." The satirical musical deals with the complex issues of social responsibility, corporate greed, bureaucracy, class warfare and municipal politics.
