Alijah Gourdine ’23 was honored by the Convent & Stuart Hall Athletic Department in a ceremony held in the Reception Room on May 30 before signing a letter of intent to play soccer and pursue his academic ambitions at Howard University in Washington, D.C. A large group of administrators, teammates and family members decked out in Howard gear cheered as Alijah made his commitment official.
After a standout season playing for a local MLS NEXT Under-19 team, part of the top youth soccer program in the country, Alijah had 10 collegiate offers. Alternating between the left-back and left-wing positions, he has showcased his talents playing at Stuart Hall, in Italy and England, and while playing for San Francisco City FC of the USL League Two, a semi-professional developmental soccer league in the U.S. Now he’s headed to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to compete at the NCAA Division I level.
The entire Convent & Stuart Hall community congratulates Alijah on his well-deserved opportunity to continue his academic and athletic pursuits at Howard.
