On October 17, eighth graders had a chance to learn kayaking basics and explore the beauty of Tomales Bay.
The weather was perfect for a day of kayaking on Tomales Bay as Convent & Stuart Hall eighth graders pushed off the shore from Heart's Desire Beach and Miller Boat Launch at Nick's Cove, respectively.
Led by knowledgeable guides from Blue Waters Kayaking, students paddled in double kayaks with lunch packed inside and enjoyed spectacular water and Point Reyes views. The guides taught kayaking basics, including paddling techniques and essential gear, and pointed out wildlife and other features of the area throughout the day.
Both groups stopped for lunch at separate secluded beaches nestled along the west shore of the bay before paddling back to their launch locations. The trip was an invaluable opportunity for students to build camaraderie and resilience, setting the tone for the year ahead.
