In a memorable winter season, Convent & Stuart Hall Grade 5–8 basketball teams accumulated wins — and championships.
This winter saw one of the most successful seasons for elementary school athletics. After a historic regular season, Convent & Stuart Hall elementary basketball teams made their mark in the postseason, winning three championships while generating excitement in the community.
Competing in two leagues, the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and the Bay Area Independent Athletic League (BAIAL), Grade 5–8 basketball teams turned it on when it mattered most, racking up a significant number of wins.
All 12 Stuart Hall CYO basketball teams had strong seasons, sporting a combined regular season record of 61-35, the most dominant run in recent memory.
With an overall record of 27-6, all six Convent & Stuart Hall BAIAL basketball teams punched their ticket to the playoffs. Starting in sixth grade, the school fields one BAIAL basketball team for boys and girls at each grade level.
Across both leagues, 15 teams made it to the postseason.
Highlights of the winter season include:
- The Stuart Hall eighth grade varsity basketball team went undefeated (8-0) on their way to winning the BAIAL championship for the third straight year. Since fifth grade, the team has posted an impressive 63-1 record in BAIAL and CYO competitions.
- With a gritty fourth-quarter effort, the Convent sixth grade basketball team won the BAIAL championship over a strong Marin Country Day School team.
- Trailing until the fourth quarter, the Stuart Hall fifth grade basketball team clawed its way back, winning the championship in the top CYO division to complete an undefeated season.
- In soccer news, the Convent fifth grade red team continued building momentum after posting a 5-1 regular season mark, claiming a CYO championship in the top division.
