After two years of virtual programming, Alumni Reunion 2022 saw alumni from over 30 graduating classes return to campus for a joyous celebration of Sacred Heart spirit.
Approximately 150 alumni of all ages attended Convent & Stuart Hall’s Alumni Reunion on April 23 to renew ties with classmates, friends and faculty, and experience the school today.
The event held something for everyone, including a master class taught by History & Social Sciences faculty member Sarah Garlinghouse '94 exploring Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini Portrait as a tool for interpreting history, student-led campus tours, a chapel program where alumni shared memories of influential RSCJ faculty and a luncheon reception.
As current students proudly led small groups of alumni around campus and through newly redesigned spaces, intergenerational connections were evident. “It was so nice to see older generations of Convent women coming together to celebrate their shared history,” says Convent junior Audrey Roomian, who served as a tour guide. Another guide, Stuart Hall eighth grader Ryker, had a similar experience. “My highlight of the day was meeting the alumni who used to go to the school and hearing how the school was different,” he says. “It was very interesting to hear what alumni did when they went to the school.”
Graduates with class years ending in 0, 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 all celebrated milestone reunions, with the classes of 1970, ’71 and ’72 honoring their Golden Reunion. “The Class of 1972 had a wonderful time at the class reunion,” says Judith Garvey ’72, one of 18 members of the class who were reunited, marking the biggest turnout of any one class. “It was better than I ever imagined it could be. I especially liked the Golden Diploma and the copy of my graduation photograph. We were very happy to be back.”
Attesting to the joy she felt celebrating her 50th reunion alongside so many friends and former classmates, Barbara Biancalana ’70 says that it was “an absolutely fabulous day at Convent. No stone was left unturned, and I was reminded of the extraordinary blessing it was to attend school there.”
We would like to extend a special thank you to our generous event donors, including those who sponsored current and former faculty tickets with underwriting. And thank you to everyone who came out to spend the day with us. We loved catching up with so many alumni from across generations.
