I have appreciated how the school focuses on getting us to be independent thinkers.
Siboni 2nd Floor
My favorite subject is English because it has brought out the writer in me that I never knew existed. I've learned to find joy and intellectual value in reading and analyzing books, as well as writing on my own time. My teacher inspires me to constantly try harder, and I can feel myself improving as the year goes by.
Favorite School Activity
My favorite school activity, despite it being cut off by quarantine, is playing on the tennis team. I have played tennis my whole life but now that I play it in a team setting for the first time, it has given me a whole new kind of love for the sport and my teammates from across all grades.
Favorite School Tradition
My favorite school tradition is basketball games against rival schools. I love going out and supporting a team with whom I walk the same hallways. Also, the basketball games just have an amazing energy that is irreplaceable. Their performance is top notch, and I have so much pride going out there to support them.
Favorite Space on Campus
My favorite place in the school is the second floor learning space of the Siboni building. It is great place to study or hang out while on the Convent campus. The room floods with natural light, and there is an abundance of space, making it easy to concentrate and power through schoolwork.
Best Part of Your Day
The best part of my day is getting on the tennis bus to head over to the Alice Marble Tennis Courts for practice. The tennis bus is a ton of fun and a nice relief right after a long day of school.
Favorite School Project
I am most proud of my second semester Spanish final presentation. It was about a non-profit I have worked with for three years, Border Youth Tennis Exchange. The slides could not have any text, which forced me to have to think in Spanish when I presented to the class. It got me out of my comfort zone but allowed me to practice real-life conversational Spanish in a subject I am passionate about.
Benefits of Single-Sex Classes, Coed Community
I feel secure in the fact that the teachers know how to handle and engage with boys and the way we learn. They are strict, forgiving and always have humor in every aspect of teaching. I have appreciated how the school focuses on getting us to be independent thinkers. The coed aspect comes into play during the right subjects and activities, giving just the right balance.
