High School Poetry Contest Winner Reads Her Poem Aloud

Watch a three-minute interview with Virginia Morford '21 talking about her winning poem and reading it aloud.

A poem that Virginia Morford ’21 originally wrote as a journal entry while quarantined at home last spring won this year’s high school poetry contest. Each year, a notable poet is asked to address students at a high school Poetry Festival and choose two winning entries. This year the judge was Julie Bruck, an esteemed and widely published San Francisco poet.

Virginia describes the inspiration behind her winning poem and reads it aloud in the video below. Rising sophomore Kyle Thaw was a co-winner of the contest.
