Student Activities
Contributors: Mike Buckley and Paul Pryor Lorentz, High School Chairs of Community Life

Thank you to the student leaders and faculty members who made the prom last weekend such a memorable event. The lion’s share of the planning and execution for these types of social activities falls to the student government, especially the executive committee. (The student government consists of the executive committee of four officers from each division and a council of community representatives, each of which stands in for a key constituency within the school.) Our executive officers worked overtime scouting possible venues in person, negotiating with potential contractors, and ultimately designing the experience for their classmates. The positive energy and enthusiasm of the students in attendance spoke to the success of all this planning. Nearly every single junior or senior in our student body attended the prom, which also points to the camaraderie and fellowship in those classes. This is the second-to-last of the landmark social events on our typical calendar, the final one being congé. Sacred Heart schools all around the world surprise their students with a day of play once each year. Convent & Stuart Hall students are savvy enough to expect congé to fall in the spring (when the weather is most likely to cooperate), and the campus is buzzing with a great deal of speculation about when the day might arrive.

Parents of seniors, our students are committed to completing at least a hundred hours of community service in their four years at Convent & Stuart Hall. Mr. Buckley and Mr. PL (your correspondents) have been reaching out to those students who haven’t quite crossed that threshold. If your senior needs inspiration, guidance, or help of any kind in completing that important work, encourage them to check in as soon as possible with one of us.
