Gr. 4–9 Parent Coffee featuring Phyllis L. Fagell

Phyllis L. Fagell, LCPC is a K–8 school counselor, a contributor to the Washington Post’s "On Parenting" column, and a regular columnist for Kappan and Association of Middle Level Educators magazines. With over 15 years of professional and personal expertise, and with stories and advice from other prominent psychologists, doctors, educators and middle schoolers themselves, Fagall recently published the book Middle School Matters: The 10 Skills Kids Need to Thrive in Middle School and Beyond—and How Parents Can Help. Covering critical topics such as values and integrity, social skills, expectation-setting, empowerment and resilience, Fagall takes on the complicated yet overlooked child development years which are ripe for thoughtful conversations about where kids are, what they need and what parents can do to help them navigate these years and thrive. Please join us to hear Fagall speak about her experiences and share portions of her evidence-based, common-sense guide to the middle school years.
