Music Conservatory

The Convent & Stuart Hall Music Conservatory provides after-school private lessons to students interested in gaining proficiency — and eventually mastery — of an instrument in a positive instructional setting. The program builds upon our daytime music curriculum, offering a supportive and engaging environment that helps students master an instrument, advance their music theory knowledge, nurture creative expression, and develop performance skills.
 
Lessons offered include:
 
  • Kindergarten: 30-minute lessons on violin, guitar, and voice
     
  • Grades 1–12: 1 hour or 30-minute lessons on voice, violin, viola, cello, guitar, bass, and piano
     
  • Grades 4–12: 1 hour or 30-minute lessons on french horn, trombone, and electric bass

Program Overview (2025-26 School Year)
  • Afternoon weekly private (1 on 1) lessons will begin on Monday, September 22, 2025 and will continue through Friday, June 5, 2026. 
     
  • Music Conservatory Recital dates: Sunday, January 11, 2026 and Sunday, May 31, 2026. Recitals are held on the Broadway Campus from 1–3 p.m. and are included in the lesson fee.
     
  • Performance in recitals is a key component of the Music Conservatory program. All students with one or more years of study are highly encouraged to participate. Students with less than one year of study may participate with the approval of their private teacher.
     
  • Families are responsible for providing the instrument of choice and other music materials for lessons.
     
  • Students enrolled in the program are expected to practice their instrument at home five days per week.
     
  • Parents are encouraged to attend one or two lessons per semester.

After School Program (ASP) Information
The After School Program helps facilitate music lessons. How it works:
 
  • If your student has a music lesson, please send them to ASP.
     
  • If your student needs after school care before or after a music lesson, they may:
     
    1. Register for a general ASP Plan (see the ASP page for plan options).
       
    2. Register for a full-year Music Conservatory ASP Plan. The special rate for Music Conservatory students is $784 per year and only applies on the day of your lesson.
       
    3. "Drop-in" to ASP.  The daily drop-in rate is $60/day and there is no need to pre-register.
