Music & Drama
Co-Ed Choir
Students have the opportunity to meet with female vocalists from Convent to learn classical and contemporary music. Students learn how to harmonize and perform vocal pieces, and they have many opportunities to perform for the school community. The choir meets about once a week to sing a variety of works from classical to modern.
Instrumental Music
The Instrumental Music program is growing at Stuart Hall. Currently, students with some background in a musical instrument are working together with their instructor to play in a jazz focused ensemble or in a classical orchestra format. There are a variety of instruments in the program, including guitar, drums, piano, horns, and others.
Drama at Stuart Hall
Stuart Hall strongly believes in the value of students becoming engaged in theatrical and dramatic productions. Stuart Hall and Convent run a joint drama program that is open to students from both schools. The fall season provides an opportunity to be involved in a dramatic production that focuses on a non-musical play. The guys and girls are invited to act, assist in directing, work on lighting, sound, or stage crews on a recently constructed stage that provides the latest in all of the essential aspects of theater. In the spring of the year, Stuart Hall and Convent join forces once again to present a major musical production. Students have the opportunity to add the elements of song and dance and instrumental and vocal music skills to the theater offering.
Throughout the course of the school year, individual teachers utilize the stage facilities on the Stuart Hall campus for minor productions and informal skits. Other courses encourage acting as part of film-making and media projects. If you want to act or be part of a dramatic production, opportunities abound.
