Creating Your Place in the Sacred Heart Mission

This website is a companion resource to the Formation to Mission Process at Schools of the Sacred Heart, San Francisco. The Sacred Heart Mission draws its inspiration from the original vision of Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart and Philippine Duchesne, pioneer educator and missionary in the United States.

This 2007-08 school year the community at Schools of the Sacred Heart will spend the year “Building on our Foundation”, re-energizing ourselves with the legacy of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. We will re-explore the history of our foundress and uncover new ways her mission of love impacts our lives today as well as the sacred heart mission of the future.

It is the hope that the information you find on this web site—along with the conversations and presentations that companion this information—will inspire and engage your imagination. As you deepen and explore the riches of the Sacred Heart tradition on which you stand, know that you you are in the company of a holy line of educators who discover and make known God’s love today.
