  • California Press Women Honors Convent High School Journalists

    The 2013 Northern California Press Women High School Communications Contest handed out awards to Madeleine Ainslie, Jewel Devora, Claire Fahy, Rachel Fung and Madison Riehle of the broadview. Claire and Madeleine received 1st Place awards and were entered into the national competition where Claire earned 3rd Place in the category of Feature Story (read her story here) and Madison was awarded 2nd Place for Single Page Layout (see it here, page 2). Congratulations to all our winners!

  • Liam Lynch Wins Grand Prize in Archdiocese Essay Contest

    Stuart Hall senior Liam Lynch was awarded the Grand Prize in the 2013 San Francisco Archdiocesan Respect Life Essay Contest. This year's prompt centered on the Catholic Church's teachings against physician-assisted suicide. Liam's essay was selected as the winner amongst all local archdiocesan high schools.   • Jabali Sawicki SHB'91 Featured on 60 Minutes

    Jabali Sawicki SHB'91 is the founding principal of Excellence Boys Charter School in Brooklyn, New York. The school, which opened in 2004, is the first all-boys charter public school in New York City. Jabali was on 60 Minutes to discuss how to encourage boys to excel in the classroom, regardless of socioeconomic status. See a clip from the show here.

  • National Journalism Convention Honors the broadview

    The Convent & Stuart Hall high school journalists who attended the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention from April 25-28 listened to venerable keynote speakers talk about the nature of investigative reporting and the power of photography. Awards were also handed out to some of the nation's premier high school newspapers and magazines. Congratulations to the staff of the broadview for walking away with the prestigious Best of Show award, which is one of many accolades the hardworking writers, editors and photographers have earned over the years. The guys of the round table are also producing fantastic journalism that is sure to garner future awards.

  • Grandparents & Special Friends Visit Campus

    How do you make a Friday even better? Spend it with family and friends! On April 26, Stuart Hall for Boys hosted Grandparents & Special Friends Day. The boys in grades K-4 treated their guests to musical performances in the Little Theater and afterward invited them into their classrooms to play math games, read stories and create projects on iPads.   • Sophomore Symposium: A Convent High School Tradition

    One of Convent High School's rites of passage, the Sophomore Symposium, returned on Thursday, April 25. Discussing the complexities of genetic engineering, foreign policy or the ethics of the atom bomb in front of an audience of peers, parents and faculty might seem daunting, but the girls' presentations were infused with an impressive breadth of knowledge and a dash of aplomb.

    The morning fog couldn't dampen students' spirits as they assembled on April 24 to dedicate the school's new solar panels. During a special Earth Week ceremony, elementary students from Convent & Stuart Hall met in the Herbert Center to talk about solar energy.

  • Sacred Heart Teachers Trade Places

    Ann Gigounas, Stuart Hall for Boys English faculty, is trading places with Wenche Haverkamp, Sheridan Road English faculty. From April 22 through May 3, these Sacred Heart educators will be taking over each other's classrooms and immersing themselves in a new Sacred Heart community.

    In honor of Earth Day, Convent & Stuart Hall is celebrating with a week's worth of green activities! Students will earn stamps in their Earth Week Passports for walking or taking the bus to school, bringing a waste-free lunch and properly sorting classroom bins; we'll dedicate our new solar panels at a special assembly and have a Trash-Free Tuesday.
