Letter from the Director

Welcome to Convent & Stuart Hall. We are Schools of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco:
Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary School (girls K-8)
Convent of the Sacred Heart High School (girls 9-12)
Stuart Hall for Boys (K-8)
Stuart Hall High School (boys 9-12)

Our schools were founded in 1887 and their history is one of educational leadership, civic involvement, and continual growth. Our focus on intellectual rigor, spirituality, social justice, community building and developing wisdom has remained unchanged throughout the years. We are the oldest and largest independent school in Northern California and the only one to offer single-sex classroom education while maintaining a coed community.

Convent & Stuart Hall share with the other members of the nationwide Network of Sacred Heart Schools five common goals and the commitment to educate to:

  • a personal and active faith in God
  • a deep respect for intellectual values
  • a social awareness which impels to action
  • the building of community as a Christian value
  • personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom

From kindergarten through high school, our students are expected to achieve their highest level of scholarship while learning to assume leadership roles as responsible, compassionate and contributing members of society.

By all measures, Convent & Stuart Hall are among the top independent schools in the nation. The distinctive spirit and commitment to excellence that defines Sacred Heart education thoroughly prepares our students to become adults who are fully grounded in “academics for life and values for living.”

Come join us on this remarkable journey.
