Mother Williams Library

The Mother Williams Library at Convent of the Sacred Heart High School is a beautiful wood-paneled room with a spectacular view on the third floor of the Flood Mansion where students can read, research and study. It has an extensive book collection and gives students access to vast amounts of online information.

The Williams Library:

  • subscribes to over 40 different academic online subscription databases, including three different encyclopedia databases, to bring the richness of Internet research materials directly to our students;
  • subscribes to an online streaming video service granting students access to such sites as the BBC, PBS, the Library of Congress, and NASA;
  • houses a collection of over 8,000 books, 400 audio-visual materials and nearly 40 different periodicals, offering students in-depth academic resources that support and enhance their learning;
  • is networked with the other two libraries at Convent & Stuart Hall: the Carroll Library at Stuart Hall High School and the Hoffman Library serving the two elementary schools;
  • provides password protected access to dozens of safe and informative websites.

    • Our library program is an integral part of academic life of Convent of the Sacred Heart High School. Librarians work closely with faculty and students to utilize new information technologies within the curriculum. Expansive resources coupled with a skilled librarian staff enable students and faculty to locate, analyze, evaluate and use information effectively.

Welcome to the Libraries at Convent & Stuart Hall

Students at Convent and Stuart Hall have unparalleled access to information through extraordinary library resources. Our three-library network includes the Hoffman Library for Convent Elementary School and Stuart Hall for Boys; the Williams Library at Convent High School, and the Carroll Library at Stuart Hall High School. Print volumes number more than 35,000. Over 1,760 audio-visual materials are available and current periodical subscriptions offer nearly 100 different titles. 44 different academic websites and databases are shared among the schools. They provide access to an electronic collection of reference encyclopedias, academic journals, education videos, E-books and magazines. Students can use these password-protected websites and databases on campus or from home. Goal II of a Sacred Heart education calls for “a deep respect for intellectual values.” Our libraries complement classroom activities to enhance the academic and intellectual opportunities offered to each student.
