Welcome to Convent of the Sacred Heart High School, an independent Catholic, college preparatory high school for girls founded in 1887 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart. Convent offers young women in the Bay Area a challenging curriculum that provides a strong foundation for competitive college entrance.

One of the oldest private schools in California, Convent students are active participants in their education with classes averaging 14 young women. Through arts, activities, drama and service programs, students at Convent and our partner school, Stuart Hall High School, have all the benefits of a single sex education within a coed community.

Part of a 21 school national network, Convent shares a common, values-based philosophy of education and a commitment to educate to:

  • A personal and active faith in God;
  • A deep respect for intellectual values;
  • A social awareness which impels to action;
  • The building of community as a Christian value;
  • Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The intent of a Sacred Heart education is to educate the whole person – intellectually, spiritually and socially, and our alumnae now number several thousand women throughout the world. We welcome you to come and explore Convent to see how we encourage students to achieve their highest level of scholarship while learning to assume leadership roles as responsible, compassionate and contributing members of society.
