Middle Form
Welcome to the Middle Form at Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary School!
Discovery is at the heart of the Convent Elementary program. From the daily activities in the classroom to extended field trips to the interactions on the playground, Convent students are engaged in a process designed to encourage experimentation and introspection.
The curriculum between and within grade levels is clearly defined and articulated, enabling students to move from grade to grade experiencing continuity, growth and a sense of appreciation for their own unique learning styles.
Girls in the middle form (grades 5-8) follow the traditional semester system. Students in grades five and six have two co-teachers who share responsibility for the planning and presentation of the core curriculum. This model provides the needed transition between the homeroom structure of the lower form and the departmentalized approach of grades seven and eight.
Religious instruction is experientially based and age-appropriate, introducing Roman Catholic and Sacred Heart heritage as well as the traditions and practices of other world religions. Emphasis is on the formation of spiritual values and the living out of these values in daily life, as well as on the understanding and acceptance of cultural differences and religious preferences.
